Code of Conduct

This applies to everyone at Kempsey Basketball. Players, parents, coaches, managers, referees, officials, committee members, volunteers and spectators.

It covers how we treat each other on and off the court, our expectations around respect for officials and opponents, sideline behaviour, and what happens if those expectations are not met.

If you read one document on this page, read this one.

Child safety and member protection

Every child at Kempsey Basketball has the right to be safe, and every adult here is responsible for that.

If you have a concern about a child's safety

Speak to the duty manager on the night, or contact the President directly at president@kempseybasketball.com.au. You do not need to be certain, and you do not need to decide how serious it is. That is not your job. Reporting a concern that turns out to be nothing costs nothing.

If a child is in immediate danger, call 000.

Working With Children Checks

Anyone coaching, supervising or working unsupervised with children at KBA needs a current NSW Working With Children Check. This is confirmed and recorded before a volunteer's first session, not on the night.

Apply or renew at ocg.nsw.gov.au. It is free for volunteers.

Basketball NSW and Basketball Australia policies

As an affiliated association, KBA also operates under the member protection, child safeguarding, integrity and competition policies of Basketball NSW and Basketball Australia. Those policies apply alongside our own.

Photography and video

KBA photographs players and events to celebrate our community, promote our programs and support grant and sponsorship reporting. If you would prefer your child not to be photographed, let us know and we will record it. That preference applies everywhere — website, social media, newsletters and print.
